This Session
Class with Ishita focuses on IMGE’s approach to storytelling through dance. Choreography emphasizes on musicality, textures, and individuality while using movement inspired by Indian classical, hip hop, and contemporary. No matter what style and experience you come from, there is something to learn in Ishita's class. All you need is a desire to experience a new approach to movement - whether you are a choreographer, a dancer, or an art enthusiast.

Instructor Bio:
Ishita Mili is a Bengali American choreographer based in New Jersey. At 5, she began training in bharatanatyam under Smt. Sudha Devulapalli Shekar and Indian contemporary under her uncle Sukalyann Bhattacharya, winning various awards throughout her childhood as classical and contemporary soloist. Ishita soon decided to break out of Indian dance and joined UFP Hip Hop Dance Company. Currently, she is a disciple of Mayurbhanj chhau artist Sri Rakesh Sai Babu. After training in a variety of styles, Ishita ventured into creating and directing as a holistic multidisciplinary artist. In 2017, Ishita founded IMGE as a performance company based in dance, film, and music that uses her cultural roots to share global stories with artists of diverse backgrounds. IMGE has since been highlighted at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, New Victory Theater, Seattle International Dance Festival, and was featured in Dance Informa and Pulse Magazine UK.
